Cross-country skiing in highways and byways

Cross country tracks are not mechanically treated in Mosty u Jablunkova- touristic Cottage Skalka- Severka and Velký Polom. In case of favorable snow conditions, you can use many of cross country tracks which have been already skied by another skiers. For acces to the ridge or return back from ridge you can use traverse routes.

Skialpinism in Těšínské Beskydy

SkiAlpinismus,as a whole word says was "invented" in the Alps among people, who needed to move themselves from the one cottage to another. It didn´t matter if the country was plain or not. They could also use their SkiAlps in the way from hill. In case, you do not know what skialpinismus is, keep on reading. Simply said skialpinismus is combination or connection of downhillskiing and cross country skiing.

Country ski trail International health track

Such a big new of winter season 2013-2014 cross country skiing for lovers is mechanically treated cross ski trail " International health track", which comes from Skalité (SK) to the Trojmezí across the Svrčinovec to the Tři kopce and then back to Skalité. The route is 45 km long. The lowest point of the track is in Svrčinovec (456 metres above the sea level) and the highest one on the top of Liesková nad Skalitým (836 metres above the sea level). If you are interested in this track, you can start your trip from many places such as Půlgrun in Markov or Svrčinovec.

Know that in Teschen Beskids there are more than 100 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails suitable for all ages, and sports groups, including parents with children ready for you. When the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia joined the Schengen zone on 21 December 2007, tourism in the Beskydy mountains was changed forever. Now you can cross the borders at any point – by road, across fields, or through forests. There are no more No Entry signs and warnings – all that has remained are the red and white painted stones that mark the border

Backcountry skiing through a winter landscape

The Beskydy mountains have always been a favourite destination for skiers. Recently, the focus has mainly been on cross-country skiing for all levels of difficulty. The Beskydy have plenty of snow cover from the autumn to the late spring, so they are not classic cross-country terrain – and it is only recently that well-maintained cross-country trails have been created in the mountains.

Lovers of cross-country skiing will particularly appreciate the local network of maintained trails (total length 44 km) which can be joined either at the Mosty u Jablunkova Ski Centre or at the petrol station in Jablunkov.
