Around the lime works and up to the lookout tower on Velká Čantoryje

Take a train from Mosty u Jablunkova to the municipality of Vendryně. From the railway station, continue along the green-marked trail or along the “Beauties of Vendryně Nature” teaching trail to the technical monument of the Lime Kilns where you will find more detailed information on what were used for the Lime Kilns and how and where the mineral raw products were taken from.

At the intersection, connect with the red-marked trail and continue to the chalet under Čantoryje. From there, continue along the blue-marked trail to the lookout tower on Čantoryje where you can admire the wonderful panorama of the Těšín Beskydy. During good visibility, you will be able to see Malá Fatra and the Tatras in Slovakia. Head along the “Knight’s Trail” or along the red-marked trail from the lookout tower to the square in Nýdek and then take the green-marked trail from Nýdek to Bystřice via Prašivá hora or take the bus. You can then return to Mosty u Jablunkova from Bystřice by train.

Our tip
The lookout tower on Velká Čantoryje was built in 2002. If you continue onto the Polish side of Čantoryje along the red-marked trail, you can take the gondola down to Ustroń, visit the spa town and then take the gondola back up again. In Nýdek, you can visit the wooden Church of St. Nicholas dating from 1576. Another wooden church, this time dating from 1587, is located in Bystřice.

Take the bus from Mosty u Jablunkova to the “Skotnia” bus stop in Dolní Lomná, change buses and then continue towards Horní Lomná. Get out at the “Pod Akáty” stop in Dolní Lomná. Go back a few metres to the bakery and then continue along the blue-marked trail from there. You will come to the intersection at Sedlo pod Malou Kykulou and from there you should continue along the green-marked trail up to Kozubová. St. Anne’s Chapel with a lookout tower offering a wonderful panorama of the Těšín Beskydy is located just above the Kozubová Chalet. The St. Anne’s Fair is celebrated at the chapel every year and the keys to the lookout tower are available at the Kozubová Chalet. Continue from Kozubová along the yellow-marked trail through Milíkov and Jasení up to the railway station at Návsí. Take the train from Návsí back to Mosty u Jablunkova.

Our tip
If you get off at the “Pod Akáty” stop in Dolní Lomná, you can visit the local wooden Lomná Museum. The “Matice Slezské” area which is the venue for the annual Silesian Days and the Frontier Festival is also located there.

Climb to the new lookout tower on Velký Polom
Take the bus from the centre of Mosty u Jablunkova or walk to Šance. Continue along the blue-marked trail to the Stone Chalet (Kamenná chata) on Velký Polom. A new lookout tower now stands above the place where the famous wooden Grouse Chalet once stood. It is open all year round and free of charge. Then continue along the red-marked trail to Muřinkový vrch where there is a chapel with a well. Walk down from Muřinkový vrch along the yellow-marked trail via Přelač to Horní Lomná and then take the bus to Jablunkov. The bus from platform no. 8 will then take you from Jablunkov back to Mosty u Jablunkova.

Our tip
The lookout tower was built on the site of a former old lookout tower. The structure was completed in October 2011 and officially opened in November of the same year. You will come to the peak of Velký Polom after approximately half an hour’s walk along the blue-marked trail.

The lookout tower on Slovak Kamenitý
Take the car from Mosty u Jablunkova to Turzovka. In Turzovka, turn off in the direction of Dlhá nad Kysucou and you will come to an intersection after approximately 2 km. Keep walking along the yellow-marked hiking trail up to the lookout tower on Kamenitý . The way back is along the same route.

The lookout tower in Stará Bystrice
Drive from Mosty u Jablunkova to Čadca and then continue to the municipality of Krásná nad Kysucou. Turn off from Krásná nad Kysucou towards Zborov nad Bystricou and continue to Stará Bystrice. Stará Bystrica is well-known, amongst other things, for being home to the first, and currently the only, Slovak astronomical clock. The lookout tower is located on the Bobovec peak directly above the centre of the municipality. You can get there, if you set off from the astronomical clock along the Class III asphalt road and then along a forest track. The trip back to Mosty u Jablunkova is along the same route.
